چکیده
Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an important crop with the potential to curb malnutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). However, poor soil fertility considered be major constraint for production SSA. This study determines canopy spread, chlorophyll content, stomatal conductance, and seed yield of common beans a field experiment conducted at Fumesua (rain-forest) Akumadan (forest–savannah transition) agroecological zones. The was 2018 2019 cropping seasons using split-plot arranged randomized complete block design three replicates. treatments consisted main plot factor namely varieties (Lv. “Semanhyia” “Ennepa”) sub-plot P (75 kg ha−1), NPK (100 ACARP organic fertilizer (4 t ha-1), plus (2 ha-1 + 50 38 ha-1) control (zero-amendments). Results showed that co-application P, NPK, increased plant height spread by ≈9.54 11.25% compared their sole application control, respectively. Similarly, combined inorganic fertilizers content conductance 36.43 23.79% These observations translate into biomass therefore seed (≈ 42.54 - 46.58%). A significant variety nutrient interaction were observed number pods per yield, irrespective location. results suggest growth response may optimized both fertilizer. Key words: Crop productivity, fertilization, physiology, beans.

متن کاملAbortive Seed Development in Common Bean (phaseolus Vulgaris L.)
INTRODUCTION Embryo defective mutants in Phaseolus vulgaris obtained by Ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) induction were studied to determine the structural and molecular basis of seed abortion in this species. In the wild-type, the classical pattern of seed development showed coordinated differentiation of the embryo proper, suspensor, endosperm tissue, and seed coat. On the contrarily, EMS mutant ...
متن کاملOn the Origin of the Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
Phylogeographic methods provide the tools to accurately access the geographic origin and diversification of crop species. In the present commentary, I urge the common bean community to face those methods and a tree-thinking mentality with regards to the long standing debate of the origin of common bean. Such efforts will ultimately bring back interest into wild bean studies and reinforce the un...
متن کاملAnatomical root variations in response to water deficit: wild and domesticated common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L).
Root anatomical responses to water deficit are diverse and regulation of water uptake strongly depends on plant anatomy. The ancestors of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars are the wild common beans. Because wild beans adapt and survive well in the natural environment, it is hypothesized that wild common bean roots are less affected than those of domesticated beans at low substrate w...
متن کاملPhenotypic Diversity among Croatian Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Landraces
Phenotypic diversity among Croatian common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) landraces was assessed by analysing 12 qualitative and six quantitative traits in 338 accessions collected from all production areas in Croatia. Out of 12 qualitative morphological traits, seed coat colour was the most polymorphic among accessions having the highest Shannon’s information index and discriminating power. Out ...
